Kids Thanksgiving Table Ideas That Take 15 Minutes
•Posted on September 26 2026
The kids' table is the one they'll remember, and it's also the one nobody plans until Wednesday night. Most Thanksgiving table decoration ideas are for the grown-up table anyway, so these are kids Thanksgiving table ideas, the two I actually used this year from our Thanksgiving collection, a table where they sit and eat and a snack table where they graze and play. Neither one took more than twenty minutes.

The Thanksgiving table that ships in a box
The whole sit-down table came out of our Thanksgiving party box. Pinecone runner, a honeycomb turkey that stands up in the middle, Thanksgiving paper plates shaped like turkeys, the gobble plates that layer on top, Thanksgiving napkins with the little turkey print, and a cracker at every seat.
I set it up the night before while the pies were cooling. The card matters more than it sounds like it should. Nobody wants to make a design decision at 8pm on Thanksgiving Eve.
What's in the Thanksgiving box
- 8 turkey-shaped dinner plates
- 8 gobble dessert plates
- 8 sets of utensils
- Turkey dinner napkins and cocktail napkins
- Pinecone table runner and the honeycomb turkey centerpiece
- Gold acorn garland
- 8 turkey crackers
- The coloring centerpiece (more on this below)
- Setup card
How the holiday party subscription works
It's part of our holiday party subscription, which ships a box a month before each holiday, eight holidays a year. You can buy the Thanksgiving box on its own for $68, but the subscription is $55 a box and you can pause or cancel whenever, so that's the one I'd actually pick. Either way it lands a month early, which means it's in your closet before you've thought about the turkey.
Thanksgiving centerpiece for the kids' table
The best centerpiece on a kids Thanksgiving table is something they can do, because they're going to sit there for forty minutes waiting on the adults. The box comes with a coloring centerpiece that runs down the middle of the table. I put colored pencils in mason jars on top of it with a few mini pumpkins and leaves between the jars.
That's the whole centerpiece. It's cheaper than flowers, and it keeps them busy right up until the turkey's carved. The three-year-old scribbles, the eight-year-old does the whole turkey, and nobody asks when dinner is.
The one snack on the kids' table
I keep one food on the sit-down table so they have something the second they sit down. This year it's acorn donut holes, on a cake stand in the middle so they read as the centerpiece and not a side plate.
Kids can do the dipping if you want that to be a thing. Mine were gone before the turkey was carved, which I'm choosing to take as a compliment.

Acorn donut holes recipe
- 1 box glazed donut holes (about 24)
- 1 cup chocolate melting wafers
- Fall sprinkle mix
- 24 pretzel sticks, broken in half
Melt the chocolate. Dip the top third of each donut hole, roll it in whichever topping, stick a pretzel piece in for the stem. Set them on parchment for ten minutes. The gold sugar ones are the ones the kids fight over, so make more of those than you think.
Thanksgiving snack table for kids
The second setup is a buffet, and it's the pick-your-own-pieces version. A sand-colored arch backdrop with the Give Thanks felt banner across it and a fall pennant, then the gingham Thanksgiving plates with the turkey plates stacked on top in a wire basket, cups, napkins fanned out, and a stack of Thanksgiving coloring placemats so they grab one on the way to a seat.
This is the table for a bigger crowd or for the cousins who won't sit down. They grab a plate and a donut and they're back outside in under a minute. It's the same arch I use for every party, with a different cover on it, and it's now paid for itself four times.
Thanksgiving snack ideas for kids
These are the two Thanksgiving snack ideas that went on the buffet, one sweet, one with actual fruit in it.
Turkey donuts
A chocolate frosted donut for the body, a chocolate donut hole for the head, candy corn for the feathers and the beak. They go on a cake stand at the front of the buffet where the kids can reach.
- 6 chocolate frosted donuts
- 6 chocolate donut holes
- 1 bag candy corn
- Candy eyes
Push five candy corns into the back edge of each donut, points out, for the tail. Set a donut hole on the front of the donut for the head. Two candy eyes, then one candy corn pushed in point-down under them for the beak. If the donut hole won't stay put, a dab of frosting from the donut holds it. Five minutes for six.
Turkey fruit cups
The healthy one. I lined up ten on a white tray and it's the thing every grandmother photographed.
- 10 clear 9 oz cups
- 5 clementines, peeled and segmented
- 1 cup red grapes
- 10 large marshmallows
- Black gel icing, orange sprinkles
Fill each cup halfway with clementine segments. Stand three segments up along the back for feathers, three grapes in front for the body. Draw two eyes on a marshmallow with the gel, press an orange sprinkle in for the beak, set it on the grapes. The kids can do the marshmallow faces, which is how I got fifteen minutes to finish the gravy.
Thanksgiving activities for kids
Build-a-turkey craft kit
The build-a-turkey craft kit is the one I hand out after the food, when the adults are on their second plate and the kids are done. Everything's in the kit, they build a turkey, it goes home with them. That's the favor, and nobody has to fill a bag.
Autumn harvest puzzle
The autumn harvest puzzle is for the older cousins. Five hundred pieces, so it's a whole-weekend project, and it lives on the coffee table from Thursday to Sunday.
When to set up the kids' Thanksgiving table
The night before: the runner, the plates, the napkins, the centerpiece, the crackers, the colored pencils. All of it can sit out overnight. Put the pencils in the jars and the placemats in their stack so it's done.
Thanksgiving morning: the acorn donut holes and the turkey donuts, because donuts get sad after a day. Twenty minutes total.
An hour before people arrive: the fruit cups, so the clementines don't dry out, and then you're finished. The buffet gets its plates and cups the night before too. The only thing that happens day-of is food.
Frequently Asked Questions
What should go on a kids Thanksgiving table?
Plates they can't break, one snack they can start on immediately, and something to do while they wait. A coloring centerpiece and a jar of colored pencils cover the last part.
How do you keep kids busy at Thanksgiving?
Keep the activity on the table. The second it's in another room, so are they.
What are easy Thanksgiving snacks for kids?
Acorn donut holes, turkey donuts, and turkey fruit cups. None of them need an oven and all three are done in under fifteen minutes. If you want something that isn't sweet, do a turkey out of cheese cubes and grapes on a platter, same marshmallow head, and it counts as lunch.
What age is a kids' Thanksgiving table for?
Three to ten, roughly. The coloring centerpiece and the fruit cups are for the little ones, the puzzle and the craft kit hold the eight-to-tens, and the crackers are for everyone.
