The plate is a black hat with Happy New Year written across it in gold foil, which is about as on-the-nose as a New Year’s Eve plate should get. These hat shaped paper plates measure 10" at the tallest point, so they hold a real serving of food and not just a cookie, which matters at a party that runs past midnight. The set of 8 lines up as black and gold New Year’s Eve plates down a long table or stacks by the buffet for a pass-and-go crowd. The foil catches candlelight and the die-cut shape does the decorating, so the rest of the table can stay simple.
